Invisalign – The Clear Alternative to Braces

Invisalign is a revolutionary approach to straightening teeth. Instead of using the traditional metal brackets and wires of braces, our Topeka and Lawrence Invisalign utilizes a series of clear, removable plastic trays to align teeth. The trays are virtually invisible, meaning no one needs to know you're straightening your teeth, and can easily be popped in an out to brush, floss, eat, and drink. This means Invisalign doesn't come with the dietary restrictions of traditional braces, and maintaining proper oral hygiene – something critical for effective orthodontic treatment – is a breeze.

It's Never Too Late for a Beautiful Smile

More and more adults are finding that it's true what they say - it's never too late to improve your smile. That has proven to be truer now more than ever as more than 30% of our patients are adults. With the ease and aesthetic appeal of Invisalign, straightening your teeth is easier than ever!

Frequently Asked Questions About Invisalign

We hear a lot of questions from our patients about Invisalign. Here are answers to a few of the most common questions:

Q. How long do I need to wear the aligners?

A. Aligners must be worn at least 22 hours a day - only remove them for eating, drinking, and brushing and flossing.

Q. Should I avoid certain foods during treatment?

A. No! Unlike braces, Invisalign is completely removable - just pop them out, eat anything you like, brush your teeth thoroughly, and pop them back in. It's that easy!

Q. Will my speech be affected?

A. Just like with all appliances, there is a brief adjustment period. This should go away quickly, and the more you speak with the aligners in, the faster you'll adjust.

Q. Will it hurt?

A. You may feel some pressure or discomfort with each new aligner you use. This is normal, and shows that your teeth are moving according to plan. The discomfort should subside within a day or two.

Q. Can I chew gum?

A. We recommend removing your aligners before chewing - the gum can stick to your aligners and make a mess.

Q. Can I smoke?

A. We recommend refraining from smoking in general, but if you do need to smoke, remove the aligners first - smoke can discolor them.

Q. How do I clean them?

A. Brush them with your toothpaste, just like your teeth, and they'll stay fresh and clean.

Q. How often will I need to come in to the office?

A. We'll have regular appointments with you approximately every 8 weeks.. These should be relatively brief, as they serve to check in on how your treatment is progressing.

Q. What happens once I'm finished?

A. Just like with any orthodontic treatment, you'll need to wear a retainer for some time. Otherwise, your teeth will just move back to their original positions!

Q. How long will it take?

A. Invisalign aligners are typically worn for about two weeks before switching to the next set, and treatment can encompass 6 to 30 sets. In general, treatment time will range between 6 and 18 months.

Q. Does it work for kids?

A. Yes! Many young patients are great candidates for Invisalign or braces.
